Huddic fashion by Yuni Huddic fashion by Yuni
A little body modification contest in Hudja, a more or less modern country located somewhere in the mountains with, however, some very tribal traditions, pretty shocking (to a stranger) views on the human body, as well as some very strange deities to worship.

The waist-cinching methods in Hudja differ a lot from the 19th century European variant where ladies were used to get a moderately sized corset and then "train" themselves to wear smaller and smaller ones. In Hudja a child gets a normally sized belt at the age of about 3 and later the size of the belt never changes as they grow up, allowing for a very smooth and painless adaptation and having a baby-size waist even in their 20s.

Small waist sizes are generally praised in Hudja, so it's no wonder there are contests where the participants show off the more extreme variants of waist reduction, as well as other breath-taking body modifications.

I want to touch him...I can't imagine how the skin feels around there.

I really like the way this is drawn, specially the belt around the waist, it looks so realistic. However, I'm not really into this kind of stuff...makes me feel sick inside for some reason.
Other than that, this looks awesome :)

It's okay. I found this person a few minutes ago and I feel exactly the same way about the tiny waists... Nice art, but Jesus Christ. D:

The torso and arms are absolutely amazing! Everything about the picture seems so soft and delicate, even the bones look smooth and polished beneath the surface of his skin. MAN I sound creepy XD Sorry. Maybe it's the suggestion from the shades and hues in the image but his silhouette is even more striking with the lighter colors behind his middle.

If you don't mind, may I ask you a few questions?
When you begin a drawing do you plan out the image with negative/positive space in mind?
I realize it's fictional though based in reality but would you mind further describing or explaining about the metal bracer on his ribs? I think that it beautifully accentuates his narrow middle and the bony formation of his hips and ribcage.
Oh yeah one more question is Hudja a play on the Hoodia plant?

I love your art, even if I was a little repulsed at first, AT FIRST. Many of the things I love today are things I used to be afraid of or make fun of! I'm going to start tightlacing myself down to 21" soon.... (not that that's much of an adjustment, seeing as I'm currently 22")

But.... what ARE those things on his ribcage? I can't figure out what function they serve....

wow, I'm amazed by your drawing skills- I thought it's a photography, but then I saw some brushwork on his hands and face...but it doesn't change the fact, that the rest of his body are shaded perfectly. I'm in awe.

You have got some fantastic art, but these 'wasp-waist' boys... Sorry. The art's great; the subject's not. Maybe if you could explain how such a practice would NOT be injurious?

Ooohhh..., where are the organs!?

Extreme body mod never really interested me aesthetically (though you pull it off marvelously), but sociologically it's absolutely FASCINATING. Yeah, I'm a nerd.

Im sorry but the so called "diet" is horribly messed up, i would die..maybe....but who would want a baby sized, anywho~ wonderfull job, and your anatomy is excellant!
SpazztasticPocky Featured By Owner Oct 8, 2009  Student Artist
xD It's not a diet at all.
What they do is they simply wear the same sized belt from age 3-25, thus forming the body into such a cinched shape. The organs (such as the stomach) have squished below or above the waistline, since there is obviously not enough room them underneath the belt. :]

Gods, that makes me aware of my back pain again D: but it looks so cool.

Man, that's gotta put such a strain on your colon D:
ranshuden Featured By Owner Nov 11, 2008
Just wondering, is it just the males who wear the belts or do the females as well? You mentioned that up unt of 20 something they had to wear the belt as a sign of not being an adult. So does this mean that once they are an adult, that unless they are in the priesthood they no longer have to keep the small waist? Also running around in my head was if the females did, what do they do after childbirth?
Yuni Featured By Owner Nov 11, 2008
Yeah, girls ("females") do wear it as well :]
InfernalNightmare Featured By Owner Nov 10, 2008   Digital Artist
oh man that's beautiful, it really is. The story behind it is just fascinating, and it's funny to me that so many people say ouch even though you said that it starts from age three, so there wouldn't even be any pain. I like the wire cage thing over his ribs, it really adds an otherwordly beauty to this. Wonderful job.
psychmeout Featured By Owner Nov 10, 2008
I love the skin. It really is a crazy combo of creepy and beautiful.
I like how it's all got a mild bondage feel to it, too.

Horribly realistic :D I love your male bodies! Chest and veiny parts just under his bellybutton is love

Ow ow! >.< Of course, he seems perfectly comfortable, but the ribs, they're so visible. Crazy awesome art as usual.

maimerd Featured By Owner Nov 10, 2008  Professional Photographer
I like how you accented the ribs with those metal pieces. And I love the hips too.

I have a question though about the corset. Do they ever take them off? Just wondering.

Also, I love how you added the freckles on his skin. It makes him look even more real.

great work yet again! ^_^
sakkysa Featured By Owner Nov 10, 2008  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
As always, I love the way you handle skin and form the face. The textures in this one a really nice, the contrast of materials from the hard metal to the letherish fabric. I'm going to be tough on you and scold you for the hands though Yuni. I think you slacked off a little ;P They just don't hold up to the rest of the image. His nipple texture is very impressive :D
XmalisX Featured By Owner Nov 10, 2008
Oh, I remember when you did the other pic like this! Still just as intriguing. The human body is quite amazing!

Also, I really do like how your pictures look so much like photos. =3
